HAGL stablishes ESG Sustainable Development Committee: Standardizing Governance and Getting Ready for International Capital
On October 22, 2026, the Board of Directors (BOD) of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company (HOSE: HAG) issued Resolution No. 15/26/NQHĐQT-HAGL on the establishment of the ESG Sustainable Development Committee (the ESG Committee) under the BOD. The Committee is responsible for guiding, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of environmental, social, and governance commitments by HAGL and its member companies.

Why is HAGL establishing an ESG Committee now?
ESG is now an essential screening criterion for international capital. For foreign investors, ESG is no longer a bonus, but as a prerequisite. As a result, sustainability commitments must be substantiated by transparent data and real results. Only companies that prove tangible ESG improvements can successfully pass the first round of due diligence.
From commitment to a verifiable governance mechanism. The ESG Committee is responsible for oversight, evaluation, and regular reporting to the BOD. Through this, the Committee clearly defines the responsibilities of each department, monitors progress, and evaluates the results of each ESG target. ESG is thus not merely a communications message but is gradually becoming part of the Group’s governance system and business operations.

Personnel structure: Combining executive capability, independent oversight, and scientific expertise
Direct leadership by the General Director. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, General Director of HAGL, serves as Head of the Committee. He directly integrates ESG objectives into daily executive management and business decisions. This approach ensures that ESG is intrinsically linked to operational realities, rather than reality rather than being a program separate from core business activities.
An independent member oversees financial governance. Ms. Ha Kiet Tran, Independent Member of HAGL’s Board of Directors, serves as Deputy Head in charge of finance. With governance and oversight experience across multiple listed companies and financial institutions, Ms. Tran helps strengthen governance oversight, enhance financial transparency, and reinforce information disclosure discipline.
Scientific expert leads technical oversight. Mr. Phan Viet Ha, Deputy Director of the Western Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI - Eakmat Institute), serves as Deputy Head in charge of technical affairs. He provides the scientific foundation for assessing cultivation methods, land use, and environmental impacts. Working alongside Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao, Deputy Head of HAGL’s Agricultural Operations Department, Mr. Ha helps operationalize ESG technical standards and monitors compliance directly across cultivation areas.
Legal and market coverage. Ms. Kieu Ngoc Hoa, Head of Legal at HAGL, oversees legal compliance, ensuring that ESG activities comply with legal regulations and disclosure requirements. Mr. Hoang Tuan Minh, Head of Sales at HGI, serves as the primary liaison with clients and partners, keeping the Committee promptly updated on export market standards and certification requirements. As a result, ESG policies are implemented consistently, from legal and market considerations through to the production site.
Functions of the ESG Committee: From strategic planning to oversight of implementation

Integrated strategic planning and implementation. The ESG Committee researches, develops, and submits the ESG strategy, long-term targets, policies, and development roadmap to the Board of Directors for approval across the entire Group. The Committee also inspects, monitors, and urges the implementation of ESG policies and initiatives at HAGL and its subsidiaries. The objective is to ensure consistency in execution.
Transparent evaluation and reporting. The Committee monitors and evaluates the real results and actual impacts of ESG commitments. It submits regular and ad-hoc reports to the BOD to promptly identify issues, propose corrective actions, and adjust the roadmap whenever necessary.
Existing foundations and the next certification roadmap
Products meeting demanding markets. HAGL’s bananas and durians are cultivated to GlobalG.A.P standards, and Gia Lai Livestock Joint Stock Company has additionally been granted GRASP certification on social practices in agricultural production. The products are exported steadily to Japan, South Korea, and China - markets with high requirements for food safety, quality, and traceability.
Coffee aligns with international standards and EUDR. For the coffee sector, HAGL is working toward international certifications including Rainforest Alliance and 4C. Concurrently, the Group is steadily aligning with the requirements of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
From product standards to corporate standards. The product certifications reflect the quality of agricultural produce. International investors, however, assess companies at a higher level: governance quality, transparency, and the capability to deliver on commitments. Through the ESG Committee, HAGL elevates on-farm standards to corporate governance levels. This establishes the foundation for the Group to disclose ESG information systematically and consistently.
The establishment of the ESG Committee represents a concrete step in HAGL’s roadmap toward becoming a transparent agricultural enterprise with standardized governance, fully eligible to access long-term capital from both domestic and international institutional investors.
